The author wisely and justifiably recanted her negative opinion when she saw Cruise's excellent performance, which perceptively addresses the pain and chronic melancholy that plagues anyone cursed with immortal bloodlust. Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst are equally good at maintaining the dark and brooding tone of Rice's novel. And in this rare mainstream project for a major studio, director Neil Jordan compensates for a lumbering plot by honoring the literate, Romantic qualities of Rice's screenplay. Considered a disappointment while being embraced by Rice's loyal followers, the movie is too slow to be a satisfying thriller, but it is definitely one of the most lavish, intelligent horror films ever made. --Jeff Shannon

It wasn't 100% like the book, but it was still a great book. All the actors did a fantastic job and the scenes themselves even looked nice.;

I really enjoyed this movie. What a novel take on Vampires! I hadn't read the book before seeing it but since have. Like most movies, it doesn't do a good job following the book. The book is very long and detailed but it is a very good read. This movie is very entertaining if you like vampire movies. A great addition to your DVD collection!;

I'm sure almost everyone in the US has seen this movie. If not, you must only because it's one of those classics that EVERYONE has seen.;
